Savvy Perfect Pout Lipstick swatches/review

back with swatches of the Savvy Perfect Pout set!

it comes with 10 colours:
Icon, Riot, Bonfire and Flirty Flamingo
Red Velvet, Petulant Plum, Berry Appealing, Nudie Run, Platform
as well as Scared Scarlet which I forgot in this photo.
They are only small minis as can be seen in this picture:

However the net weight of these is 3.2g - which is, if you think about it, quite a bit considering my Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick's Net Weight is 4g. (not sure if this is a good basis of comparison, but still! Value for money both ways.)

Here are the lip swatches:

The Verdict:

I honestly really like the value and the quality of these lipsticks for the price. They are super bright and opaque after 3 coats, especially for the lighter ones such as icon and flirty flamingo. I found that the wear time of Icon was 3ish hours, including eating and drinking, and it set to a satin finish. I didn't notice there was much transfer particularly until I wiped my mouth with a tissue. It was also very comfortable to wear and didn't feel sticky at all - although there was a waxy smell upon application, which disappears after a few minutes.

I found that the lipstick tended to ball up a little when I tried to reapply, resulting in a weird patchy application. I think you'd definitely need to either touch up throughout the day or just be careful when reapplying not to coat it too thick.

I can't wait to try out the rest of these!

Priceline 40% off Sale haul!

If you live in Australia you'd know that Priceline is currently (yesterday and today) having a massive 40% off all cosmetics! I used this opportunity to do some more pointless spending (lol).

Here's what I picked up yesterday:

I bought:

  • Savvy Perfect Pout 10 lipsticks set
  • Face of Australia Lip Paint in Pretty in Pink
  • Australis Velourlips in TO-KI-O
  • Essence cream to powder highlighter
  • Models Prefer Party Glam palette
  • Essence Waterproof retractable liner
Will update with more posts of swatches!

Melli Cosmetics Review!

So my boyfriend's mum went to a high-tea over in the heart of Perth city a while back and came back with some goodies for me from Melli cosmetics!

These are what I received:

1. Melli Cosmetics VELVET silk perfection mousse primer (RRP $49.00 AUD)
2. Melli cosmetics Beauty Pod "airbrush" fx sponge (RRP $17.50)

She also gave me a Melli voucher which I haven't used, not sure if it still works but if it does and you'd like to purchase any Melli products, the code is PROMO20 for 20% any full priced item :)

I love the packaging, it's so cute.

Anyway I thought it was super interesting seeing as I've been on the lookout for a new primer as well as looking to try the beauty blender - but this will do just fine. The primer aims to smooth out the skin as well as provide a nice smooth base for makeup to adhere to.

Apply a small (pea sized) amount of primer onto face, spreading using fingers
Before primer
After primer

4. Using the pod, dab into L'oreal True Match foundation and dab onto face with patting motions, using the smaller end to dab concealer into problem areas.

Finished look!

Sorry, I know its a little rushed and my skin isn't the best in these photos!

Overall I would have to say both the primer and the pod applies my L'oreal True Match extremely naturally, and makes my face look almost "airbrushed" as claimed. However as the pod is a little moist, it tends to soak up a bit more foundation and apply quite sheerly. I would stick to using my stippling brush and fingers over this since I have problem skin and prefer a more medium coverage. Not so sure about the primer still, I feel like it does slightly improve my skin but not so sure about how it works to keep my foundation on my skin - I guess it does extend the life of it slightly but as every other primer so far it does end up rubbing off eventually.

If you have any questions about these products, please feel free to ask me!

ChiChi Drama Queen - Creamy Matte Liquid Lipstick Review

So I know as I haven't really been blogging, my readerbase probably won't go up much either, sigh. Anyway! moving onto the swatch. The other day at Target Perth City ChiChi had a 25% off sale - I've been eyeing their matte liquid lippies for a while and decided I'd go for a purple (I know, I know, another purple!).

Chi Chi Creamy Matte Liquid Lipstick - RRP $16.95 AUD
(Target Australia)

Drama queen is a true-berry colour that I absolutely adore. It has a faint berry scent that I can't smell after about 5 mins of applying, and no strong taste either, which I like, unlike some lipsticks (Rimmel Kate Moss) which have a strange, sour taste to them after applying.

These liquid lipsticks are described as:
"A glamorous and elegant matte liquid lipstick that is super long lasting without drying out lips or feathering. As the name suggests, these lip shades boast a creamy formula, are very easy to apply, with the colour drying down to a matte finish which lasts all day long. These velvety soft shades are extremely moisturising and enriched with Vitamin E, contain high-performing colour pigments that have an extremely high concentration of colour that lasts all day long and are sure to leave your lips very smooth and get them noticed for all the right reasons. Made in Italy with Love!

 So, the claims are:

  • Super long lasting
  • Non-drying or feathering
  • Creamy and easy to apply
  • Colour dries to matte finish
  • Lasts all day
  • Moisturising

2 minutes after application, no lipliner
Review:

So there are my lips 2 mins after application. The colour is amazingly vibrant and opaque after 1 coat, however I had to be careful not to glob it on too thick because of the drying time. It also dried to more of a satin finish, and did not dry matte as it claimed to.

I noticed after wearing this liquid lipstick over the course of a few weeks that it took forever to dry and would rub off when "dry" at the slightest accidental touch, which, to me, was really disappointing considering it claims to be "longlasting" and "last all day". I also noticed, to my greatest surprise, it actually feathered (without any lip-liner underneath) considering most lipsticks don't feather on me.

It also did not last through the course of a meal (or even one drink for that matter) and made my lips look a patchy-pink colour, which, again, is disappointing. Even on one occasion where I just wore it to run errands, it managed to go a bit patchy in some areas and fade towards the centre! Overall it lasted for about 2-3 hours.

However one good thing I can say about this is that it was definitely moisturising - it felt like a balm on the lips and was so cushy and soft.

The Verdict:

Application: 8/10

Pigmentation: 9/10

Longevity: 4/10

Would I repurchase? No, simply because I dislike reapplying multiple times!

Brite Organix!

Soooo having to touch up on my hair can get really fickle and annoying. I've tried a few different red dyes:

  • Manic Panic's Pillarbox red - turned my hair orange after 1 wash
  • Paintbox's Corvette red. dulled and darkened my hair a lot after 2 washes
  • Stargazer Rouge, a really nice pink-toned red. Stayed in for approximately 6-10 washes, really impressed with this brand
  • L'Oreal & Swarzkopf (can't remember which for both of these however the colours were "Ruby Red" aka pink-toned red), both of which turned out to be quite dark however the colours did not run and stayed for a good 20 washes.
Today, being sick, I decided to look into a new Australian brand that recently started being stocked at Woolworthes called "Brite Organix".. I had a friend recently dye her hair using Pink Power and it looked so amazing, I thought it could be worth a shot using their Red Is Just Fabulous to touch up my hair.

This product retaisl for $9.95 AUD at Woolworths - a lot cheaper than most other semi-permanent hair dyes! So thought I'd give it a go and put a bit in my conditioner..

And here's the end result:

Revlon Matte Balm in Shameless

I know it's hard to tell, but I did notice it gave my hair a nice pink-red tinge which is exactly what I'm looking for. Definitely worth the pricetag and will update with before/after pics the next time I dye my hair :)

Mini Haul / Model's Prefer Infinite Colour Foundation Review

Hello to my nonexistant readers! If you do happen to read my blog, sorry for the irregular posts. Just been suuper lazy and getting back into the swing of uni/things. I got paid today so I decided to treat myself to a small haul of things at Priceline.. Which hopefully turn out to be good investments! Altogether it cost me $10.70 which is actually pretty good for Australian prices. Onto the items...

  1. Essence Liquid Ink Waterproof liner
  2. Essence Get Big! lashes Waterproof mascara
  3. Models Prefer Infinite Colour foundation in Medium Beige

The Models Prefer foundation caught my eye as it was on sale for $1.40! holy crap. At first I was sceptical - was there something wrong with it? Nope, completely sealed, no leakage or broken-ness. So hell, I thought, why not give it a go?

I swatched the Essence liquid eyeliner instore and was really impressed by the staying power. I compared the non-waterproof one to the waterproof and there was a world of difference- the waterproof liner stayed mostly put when I rubbed it, didn't smudge, and held its colour. At $4.10 a pop, definitely worth investing into over a $15 maybelline gel liner (which I still love to use due to the brush and gel pot), however staying power is meh and it tends to rub off easily (for me anyway).

Here is the comparison of Essence Get Big! Lashes mascara:

Covergirl LashBlast Mascara + Essence Get Big! Lashes layered ontop
Covergirl LashBlash Mascara only

So I already had my Covergirl LashBlast Volume waterproof mascara on, so I decided to layer the Essence over the top to see how it would look.

Honestly I saw a huge difference - the pictures don't do it justice. I'll have to try it without the Covergirl mascara to see how it works by itself. Will update soon enough!

Onto the Models Prefer foundation...

Swatched in natural light
So as you can see, it seems to match my skintone pretty well. How lucky :P

Moisturizer only (BEFORE)
With MP foundation (AFTER)

So as you can probably see, it is a light-medium coverage foundation and it feels quite light on the skin, which I really like. It doesn't sink into the pores or settle into lines (I have fine lines around the middle of my brows, because, well, I guess I have animated expressions). At the end of a 7 hour shift, I noticed it had rubbed off a bit in my t-zone/nose area, but that was probably because I was blowing it so much because I'm sick. Otherwise it had worn pretty well and I'm pretty chuffed for how much I got it for. This foundation retails for $16.99 in Priceline Australia - which is cheaper than most other chemist foundations - so if you're looking for a light-medium coverage foundation this could be for you!

PROS:
  • Doesn't settle into pores/fine lines
  • Lightweight
  • Smooth, demi-matte almost dewy finish
  • Evens skin-tone, natural-looking finish
  • Non-cakey
  • 5-7hr weartime
  • Neutral undertones so can be worn by warm or cool undertones
  • Wide colour selection catering more fore pale skintones
CONS:
  • Packed with silicones! Beware if you have skin which is sensitive to silicone primers/foundations
  • rubs off easily
  • has a slightly greasy feel due to demi-matte nature
  • No SPF.. this could be a PRO if you want to use it for flash photography though!
I hope this helped you out, if you have any questions please let me know in the comments :)
